OK, I'll give it a shot, just listing the films I've seen. (I could be wrong on some of these, so please feel free to correct me.) SPOILER ALERT: This list is one big spoiler, so if you don't want to know what happens to our hero in a movie you might not have seen yet, scroll no further. (Personally, I don't mind being forewarned about that sort of thing!) But here's the current score: Makes it to the end: 36. Gets killed off: 29. BTW, should cameo roles count? (I'm not including his cartoon voice work since great supervillains always have to come back for another episode!) OK ... here goes:

Oops, my count was off. It should have been:
Makes it to the end: 41
Gets killed off: 32

(The ratio's improving!)

Doh! I knew that. I put those two on the wrong list. Guess I wasn't as wide awake as I thought!

>Shoots himself.

Yes, I remember it now. (I thought he did himself in somehow.) That's one of those great movies/great performances that affects you for a long time afterwards. It made a big impression on me even though I can't remember all the details of it. I'm going to have to watch it again now.

You did? Moi?! You mean my clever disguise didn't fool you? ;-)

Hi there,

You know, I've been reading on here for ages, I've now got the courage to say something.

I know what happens in a few that you can't remember.
Ice Cream Man - he lives
Inner Sanctum II - he dies
Body Bags - he lives
Silver Bears - he lives.

I hope that helps

Hi, Mel! I'm so glad you finally broke your silence! :-) Wow, you're a true fan if you've even seen Silver Bears (and remember it). I haven't seen it since it was aired on TV in the late '70s! (When I was very, very young. ;-)) Hope you'll keep posting.

Thanks for filling in some of the blanks. I've updated the count, and it now stands at 48 (survives) and 33 (doesn't). (I used the word processor to count them this time!) That's if you agree that joining the undead counts as surviving. I figure as long as he could come back in a sequel ... Then again, there are certain movies for which one would be glad to be assured of not being compelled to watch a sequel. For example ...

>Inner Sanctum II - he dies

You know, not only couldn't I remember the ending of this one, but I realized I couldn't remember the movie at all, not even after reading the description on the video box. Well, being a glutton for punishment (I mean, if I'm going to take the time to re-watch a DW movie, shouldn't it be something good like the Sea Gull?), I decided to pop it in the machine hoping to jog my memory. Ugh! Gradually, I realized I had seen it but simply repressed it from my memory. Well, at least DW has more than a cameo. He's the only bright spot in a bad, bad movie. In fact, with him as the psychiatrist, I almost managed to work through the trauma of seeing this again! (Another film where the FF button is invaluable.)

Thank you for the welcome. :-)

I actually own this one on DVD. I think it hasn't been long out though.

I think I too repressed a lot of Inner Sanctum II. The most I can remember was him really slowly falling out of that closet or whatever it was.

Believe it or not, that was the one part of the movie that actually took me by surprise!

So what did you think of Silver Bears? (I'll have to take the cellophane off my videotape and actually watch it one of these days. How high a priority would you give it?)

The movie isn't too bad. Its watchable, though I love older movies so I'm biased :). He's not in it too much, but his role is a bit amusing.

I myself am trying to get a copy of Airport 79: The Concorde, but as yet I've had no luck. Have you seen that one?

How about Hannah's War? He lived to the end, albeit with a tortured conscience after Hannah's mother's speech before Hannah's execution. Is it wrong to think someone looks sexy in a Nazi uniform?
