I finally ran across an Australian review of the show. Sounds like the only thing they liked about it was David Warner and Joanna Lumley. (And that he's only in one episode.)
"'I know a classic when I see one,' says Robert [DW], ostensibly about literature but with a lascivious look at Davina [Lumley]. Only Warner and the deliciously deep-throated Lumley could make such self-aware drivel sound poetic."

The series got good reviews here in the UK. The Times especially raved about it & a second series is in production now. It is mainly a showcase for the fabulous Lumley though.
David Warner only made an appearance in the second episode, but he was very funny as a hypochrondriac author.
