Two of the Skybaxes traveling with the caravan waited for things to get started. Brightwing and Rudolf were both tense with anticipation. This mission could make or break their whole careers.

The other, Highsoar, stood out from the other Skybaxes because she was alone, partnerless, as she had been since the death of her rider a little over a year ago. She had known of some Skybaxes who had been driven almost mad by the loss of their life-partner, but although things had been extremely rough, she was still hanging on, helping where she could. Her help could sometimes be valuable, because she was one of the rare 'baxes to be able to understand human speech.

(ooc: Is the other 'bax still around...Skysong, was it? And, I'll tackle one other character tomorrow....of course the carnosaur will have to wait...)
