That's what I get for not going back and reading *all* the previous posts LOL...

A pair of large shapes in the sky descended toward the caravan, eventually alighting on the ground near the group. Both Brightwing and his partner Rudolf and Highsoar had accompanied the original caravan that had seen the bird-creatures, and had gotten permission from Canyon City to accompany the group on their return to the basin, since they could be helpful.

Brightwing and Rudolf were tense with anticipation, knowing that this whole thing could either make or break their whole careers. If they did well, this would make a great resume addition, but if they didn't...Rudolf didn't even want to think about it.

The other Skybax stood out because she was on her own, as she had been since the loss of her life-partner a little over a year ago. But she had not gone mad as some others of her kind in this positon had; the times had been rough and difficult, but she had made it through, at least so far. She still did what she could to help, because she was a rarity among Skybaxes. One talking 'bax was rare enough-Windchaser had been the only one recorded before-but now there were two of them at once, the other being Skysong.

As Highsoar shifted uneasily after a slightly uncomfortable landing, Rudolf dismounted Brightwing and tried to see if he could figure out who was in charge of the caravan.
