I fully agree!

The Renault system is not really bad, actually it is a CD based VDO Dayton system with a bit customized menu. But it's yesteryears technology compared to the current DVD based systems.

What I am gonna do myself is order the original motorized screen as a part from Renault (because that is way cooler than any aftermarked regular or fold-out lcd screen), and link that to a new Pioneer DVD based navigation system that imho has THE coolest user interface with 3D bird-view option:



This will require some serious customization of the RGB connector though, so I hope that is gonna work out. If it doesn't then I will use the new VDO Dayton DVD based nav computer, which should have the same connector as the original Renault screen. The Pioneer AVIC-800DVD computer is EUR 1900 in Holland, and the screen module is probably more than EUR 700, but I want the best of both worlds.
