Subject: Sim City's Scale

This is by far the most thorough sim city region creation site I've found so far. I really needed to thank you for providing such detailed information, especially about the DEM's and how to convert them and what not.

You mention in the tutorial that Sim City 4's scale of a region is 10-12x10-12 miles square or 16-20x16-20km square.... meaning that a large city would be 4x4 pixels roughly 4x4km... is this assumption correct?

If it is then the Toronto regions you're hosting are inaccurate, which is no problem, because I can just make an accurate one up, in fact I spent the last hour pouring over a map and finding the best 20x20km grid of the city's downtown.....

If this scale thing is true I'm going to be thoroghly dissapointed with maxis..... Just because a 20x20km area is only enough to have a city, not a region..... Realistically a region needs to be about 40x40km at least, especially considering urban sprawl in north america......

Unfortunately as far as my experiments have lead, the game won't support configs larger than 16x16 pixels, it just seems to read the first 16 pixels on both axis......

I guess I have to wait for sim city 5......

Anyway, I'll get on making the accurate Toronto region for insane enthusists like myself that want every detail in the real city on their map.

I also miss the sign post option from SC2.....

Regardless of Maxis' short comings, this site is really informative. Thanks for your help,

Bennett
