Subject: Sager Road/Port Authority issues

Thanks to Joe F. for his detailed comments on the message board below, regarding the Sager road area in the Oak Openings. It does shed some light on recent goings-on in that area.

While we all can appreciate the security concerns, perhaps if turkey/deer hunters can be "checked out" and okayed, then maybe birders can also?

I DO think that we need to address this issue ASAP with the Port Authority, before they go so far as closing the area down completely. What a shame if we as birders get locked out of yet another great birding area, when hunters still are allowed access. It would be a travesty.

For those with ideas/thoughts on addressing this issue, or for folks who wish to be involved, please email me privately.
