Thanks to Jr for posting the results of our birding efforts from Sunday. I decided to head out again Tues. to see what was still hanging on.

Numbers and variety were down from Sunday but still pretty good. Yellow-rump, Blackpoll and Cape May still the most common warblers. Lots of WT Sparrows. Only disappointments were: only Vireos were red-eyed and 0 yellow-bellied sapsuckers. At least 2 Cape Mays were taking advantage of sapsucker wells on a grape vine which was also observed on Sunday.

Other warblers include:

BT Green
BT Blue
Bay-breasted
Tennessee
Magnolia
Black & White
Redstart

Early Monday morning I heard the dreaded thud on my bedroom window. I looked out to see a Thrush flat out on its back, feet in the air. I went out to see what kind and it was sitting up right, a Gray-cheeked. I sat the bird in the sun to keep it warm (and to get a couple of photos). A few minutes later it flew off. Its flight was strong so I presume it survived.

Brian Z.
