Subject: New Dr. Jane Forsyth Book

Hi everyone,

This isn't a bird posting, more of a general naturalist posting, (with permission, of course). We recently received a copy of the new book, "Linking Ohio Geology and Botany, Papers by Jane. L. Forsyth", at the nature center here at Wintergarden. For those of you unfamiliar with her or her work, Jane is Professor Emerita of Geology at BGSU and broke ground, so to speak, as a geolgist in a very male dominated profession in the 1950s. Her research is still regarded as the gospel when it comes to glacial geology in Ohio. This is the first time her papers, abstracts and articles have all appeared in one volume and is a must for the "all around" naturalist library. Jane is a big fan of the Oak Openings region and can tell you all about how it came to be. Neither Jane nor the nature center receive any royalties for this book, I just thought some of you might be interested in its existance. If you want to know more, please contact me.
