Subject: BG update

Wntergarden/St. John's Nature Preserve in BG has been busy the past few days. Many warblers in species but not in volume. Gobs of White-throated Sparrows. Gobs. I'm not kidding. Phoebes building a nest on the nature center. Hummingbird was at the feeder this morning. E. Kingbirds back in the meadow. 8 out of 9 nest boxes in prairie have either Bluebirds or Tree Swallows in them. A walk around the preserve should turn up at least fifty species in a short time. A quick note regarding the preserve itself: We are happy to announce that the Parks and Recreation Dept. has purchased 7.5 acres to add to our existing 80 acres. Hey, it's not much, but it is an old part of the woods that is safe from development now. Come see it! A new trail will be open sometime this summer.
