Subject: Northern Shrike

Best yard bird yet! Jeff discovered a Northern shrike perched in a backyard shrub late this afternoon (12/5/02). I still can't believe it. What a surprise. Don't know how long it was there but we watched it for about 10 minutes before it flew south. I'm hoping it will make its winter home at Wintergarden Park which is about a mile south of our house and which has perfect shrike habitat. I'll keep you posted if we are able to find it there in the next few days.
