While biking the Slippery
Elm Trail in Wood County this morning I stopped at some excellent habitat
just north of North Baltimore. There is an old oil field with rolling, tall
grass hills. I was hoping for a signing Dickcissel, but over the singing Bobolink's
I thought I could hear a Bell's Vireo, as
I walked down the trail I saw the bird singing in a dead tree. It continued
to sing the entire time I was there.

The Vireo was singing in a dead tree 1.1 miles north of the North Baltimore
trail parking lot. Look for a park bench along the bike trail with a sign near
it that reads "Wood County Oil Boom". You can also walk to the area
by driving on E. Quarry Rd (which is under construction) and walking 1/4 mile
north to the park bench.
