Subject: Pt. Mouillee Field Trip

Sorry for the lateness of this report. I assumed the field trip leader would be taking care of the posting.

Only 3 people were energetic enough to join leader Greg Links for the biking and birding trip to Pt. Mouillee on Saturday, July 20. Shorebird habitat is not very abundant at this point with the Lead Unit basically being the only place to find birds. 13 shorebirds species were found: lesser and greater yellowlegs, dunlin, semipalmated and least sandpipers, semipalmated plover, killdeer, pectoral sandpiper, short-billed dowitcher, spotted sandpiper, 1 Baird's sandpiper, approximately 12 stilt sandpipers and at least 4, maybe as many as 6 Wilson's phalaropes. Ducks were in short supply with only mallard, black, wood, gadwall and redheads being see. Singing marsh wrens were all along the dikes. Caspian and common terns were seen near the entrance off Sigler Road.
