Subject: snowy owls and red phalarope

I was thrilled to see two of the reported snowy owls yesterday, Dec. 2. The first was on the Sandusky Bay Bridge and the second at Maumee State Park. The first one was quite white with only light barring while the second was heavily barred. The owl on the bridge was best seen if heading across the bridge from the west on your right just after crossing the highest part of the bridge. It was sitting toward the end of some rocks in the water not far from the road. The one at Maumee was located sitting on a post at the west end of the beach parking lot and then flew to a post by the small waver building. The red phalarope is the one reported at Huron Pier--it's still there.
