I wonder if others have had this same experience as "woodpecker" with TNA groups, leaders, outings or whatever? Unfortunately, "Woodpecker" obviously wishes to remain anonymous, otherwise I would email you privately.

I am sorry you have had this experience with anyone within the TNA. I cannot imagine what you experienced that makes you feel like you have to "jump through many hoops" to "prove you are a novice birder". Without exception, the field trip leaders of the TNA are all very enthusiastic to share their knowledge and passion for birds and nature with others, ESPECIALLY beginners.

Have you had more than 1 bad experience with more than 1 individual? If so, please email me privately---this is something I do not want other beginners to experience. Perhaps you caught someone on a bad day, but if it is more than that, I sure would like to know.

Please don't mistake "being corrected" for being snubbed. I get the feeling there is something specific behind this statement. Believe me, every birder in the world has been corrected by someone at some point, and it is not to embarrass or make you feel bad, but rather HELP you in building your birding skills.

We are always looking for ways to improve TNA as a whole, but especially increase membership, and most especially ACTIVE membership.

Comments by all are welcome.
