Paul, I would just like to say Woodpecker must belong to a different TNA group than I do. My husband and I were rookie members two years ago. From the beginning we have gotten nothing but support from the "elite" birders in the group. We have been impressed time and again by their willingness to take novice birders in hand on field trips to help them find lifers and learn skills. My own skills have gone through the roof in the last 2 years due in great part to the time and patience given to me by those same people being criticized by Woodpecker. In our two short years of membership we have met some wonderful people and have gone from being true neophytes to holding positions on committees, being asked to cover our own area on one of the CBC's and are even contemplating leading some field trips of our own. Do not let Woodpecker's comments deter you from getting more involved. You won't regret it.
