True. But there are ways to interpret. Hypothetically only, If Cornell receives a commitment in the last week from a QB,who reports he was offered by Penn and Brown early in the recruiting process but Penn and Brown received commitments 7 weeks ago from one or more QB’s, chances are they passed on the Cornell kid.
He might be a better QB than the ones committed to Penn and Brown and his visits to Penn and Brown , if any ,might not have gone well but still the point is that for whatever reason Penn and Brown in this example moved on. You could ask the recruit to find out if this hypothetical is close to reality.
A clear determinant would be whether the recruit and his family was offered an official visit to the other schools . If not, chances are he was not high on the list at his position.

While your explanation makes sense, in some cases we can assume a recruit who might be higher in the pecking order at a particular school than a recruit who has already committed that program simply prefers a different destination.

Asia, thanks for that back story. Swanstrom certainly would’ve been involved with Downes’ Penn recruitment, so he apparently still thought enough of his potential to make the Cornell offer. And if he doesn’t pan out, well, fans of Cornell football are used to disappointment!

This recruit has an unusual recruiting story.

Brown offered him when he was in 7th grade. Kansas and Indiana followed shortly thereafter.

Penn offered him in the summer before his junior year. He later suffered a compound fracture of the tibia that fall.

It appears Cornell has taken a flyer on him, but perhaps this works out great for them. Cornell fans could be in for a pleasant surprise or a bit of a disappointment. At any rate, I wish him well and I hope things go well for him and Cornell.

...former Dartmouth QB Connor Kempe. He had all types of interest from major programs in high school. Then suffered bad injuries from a near-fatal kite-surfing accident.

Best I could tell, Dartmouth was his only offer after that.

He had a decent career. Might have even gotten All-Ivy recognition in a normal season except that the league was full of good QBs his year.

Coach Swanstrom seems to be off to a good start with recruiting.

Heard on the East Hill that Coach Swanstrom likes this 2024 freshman running back Ricardo Lagares. They gave him #33 which is a good sign. Go Big Red!
