Four Ivy League teams (half the league) are on this list. Time to resume the tradition of winning national championships!

Ivy League needs to start the season sooner , than what does presently.
To add another game , Just makes good sense.

The IL recruits many of the same football athletes who go to Navy or Army or Air Force

IL Fin Aid packages are excellent and all the schools offer ROTC programs

Navy and Army are competitive at a Div 1 level
Being a student athlete at Army/ Navy/Air Force is more challenging than being a student athlete in the IL

So how come the IL cannot play the same level of competition as the service academies?

I agree with Ivy Wanna Be that the League football season should start the Saturday after Labor Day. This change would actually GOOD for the players' academics because more of training camp will take place in August before classes start.

Furthermore, the season will end before the beginning of the academic crunch leading up to first semester finals. (This would also allow Dartmouth to ask the League office to finish against Princeton again. You know, "I was just kidding. Never mind.")

So many aspects of Ivy football are done simply because, "That's the way it's always been done." Finally participating in the FCS playoffs opens the door to re-examine everything, including when we start the season.

I said after the League announced that we would compete in the FCS playoffs and I continue to believe it: Most of us on this board are young enough that I think we will see another Ivy League football national champion.
