Sometimes it's bad news from admissions. Sometimes it's the family's situation (finances, health, etc.). Sometimes it's a girl. Sometimes it's when an unexpected opportunity to play at a higher level opens up. I can't recall anyone decommitting because he decided, in June, that an Ivy degree is really no big deal after all... Let's not forget the three star QB who changed his mind. Success in Ivy League football and basketball now seems to depend on coaches who (a) recruit good players but not so good that they attract mass drone attacks from higher rated programs with money to spend and (b) really coach well and always seem able to get the best from the guys they've got. We're fortunate Kamara's stuck with us, but we should remember he stuck with the high school where he started despite being courted by much fancier programs. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

Could have been homesickness (he grew up 2.5 hours from Ball State) Could have been a suspension for fighting that he felt was unfair (which did happen to a teammate of mine who ended up playing at another school). But just because a guy foregoes an Ivy in favor of someplace other than Stanford or Duke doesn't necessarily mean that the guy concluded that an Ivy degree isn't what it used to be...
