Watching Premier Lacrosse League game on ESPN2 and it looks like Harvard put down a new turf field. It looks absolutely great. The shade of crimson/red/magenta varies from logo to logo and field to field at Harvard. This shade is more purple and magenta than usual. It looks Panacolor terrific.

The turf is now officially Tim Murphy Field, as signified by two giant Murphy signatures straddling the 25-yard lines. And when I say "giant," I mean it. His signature runs from the 15-yard line to the 35. It makes the Thomas Stemberg graphic on the Lavietes court actually seem understated.

Glad they still got some dough to throw around!

I think they have gotten a pretty good ROI on that ole stadium.

H Stadium is a magnificent facility and is, by far, my favorite football stadium.

Best sightlines anywhere. Just take a cushion.

Re bringing a cushion, EXACTLY!

I'm constantly consternated at the comparative dimness of all the other stadiums where they build a masonry stadium (like H Stadium), but then shoot themselves in the foot by taking the idiotic and counterproductive step of then installing millions of dollars worth of metal brackets and plastic seating, all of which are the first to display the ugly signs of degradation in the form of dripping rust stains from metal parts, peeling paint, broken metal brackets, and cracked plastic. This seems to be in the name of "comfort"--yet another sign of people having become so weak and soft. As you say, just bring a bleepin' cushion and be done with it.

H has done KISS--keep it simple stupid. Just have pure masonry stand up to the weather and avoid all of this other needless expense and bother.
