Two cross country wins for Princeton on their home course, the women’s a mild upset over Harvard. Tiger men won with depth, seven in the top nineteen, women with strength at the top with four of the top eight.

Columbia’s Phoebe Anderson won the women’s race by twelve seconds, Harvard’s Olympian Graham Blanks won his last race by 32 seconds.

Perfect weather, ideal conditions, excellent course, although old timers are still yearning for the days in Van Cortlandt Park….

As an old timer who ran at Van Cortlandt I have wondered why the league left this great venue. Anyone know the rationale?

Aptly enough, I bumped into Fred Samara at the stadium during the rout. Told him the 2 titles are his legacy. He grimaced and waved off the thought. One of all time great college coaches; a decathlete himself.

Princeton wins the Ivy women’s soccer championship with a 1-0 win at Columbia. The Ivy tourney at Princeton will determine the league’s automatic participant, Tigers and/or Lions have a shot at an at-large bid as well.
