Subject: preseason football forecast

1. Yale – 114 (6)
2. Harvard – 108 (7)
3. Penn – 88 (2)
4. Princeton – 80 (1)
4. Dartmouth – 80
6. Brown – 56
7. Cornell – 26
8. Columbia – 24

After 4 games -- so given these numbers and order - Yale was overrated - the only team with two Ivy losses (I'm paying attention here Valmas) and Columbia was "possibly" underrated.

also VALMAS - while paying more attention to our competition's current record - Georgetown may not be as bad as you think; they also beat Lafayette - so therefore perhaps our narrow road loss to Hoyas is not as detrimental to our program as you think.

I was thinking of this poll myself and how the season has begun almost in the reverse of what was predicted. The first four teams listed have all dropped their openers and the other four have, of course, all won theirs and DC another with a backup QB. Of course, the season is young so we'll have to wait and see exactly how wrong the poll is for another six weeks.

While Lafayette was apparently overrated when you played them, Columbia was clearly underrated. If you can get by Penn, which is no small task, then a really good season could be in store. Although there would remain formidable opponents able to block the way. Cheers.

Thanks, Lion Rooter and Bengal, for your comments. Additional data points:

The only two Ivies appearing in the NCAA Coaches Poll ranking are Dartmouth and Columbia at 24 and 36, respectively.

Also, re Columbia's record against non-Ivies, Georgetown and Lafayette are at 42 and 44, respectively.

lol and OMG to Valmas just the answer I would have expected of you ! for the record I have never owned a car - jalopy or otherwise - i seem to manage fine with a rusty ten speed bike.

I resented the Dartmouth follower who inserted themselves into a jubliant columbia thread by demanding "respect" - honestly Valmas you come across as a cranky and pedantic middle school teacher that the kids hate !

I will continue to pay attention and will also continue to celebrate Columbia football's strong start

Lion Loser, you're such a pretentious piece of dog f___s!

This is exactly what that 'Dartmouth follower' posted eight days on a thread YOU initiated:

"I'm not sure any Ivy team has lost to Georgetown but still ended up with an overall winning record.

But perhaps Columbia breaks the mold this season..."

How is any of that indicative of his "demanding respect"? All this is about is a CONFESSION of your insecurity, little man; and a PROJECTION of your delusion onto the 'Dartmouth follower'- as if he needs your expressed permission to comment on a thread wherein you, for some weird reason, invoke his Voy Forum pseudonym!?!?!

Moreover, for all your bluster, the 'Dartmouth follower' happens to be right; and you're too lazy and/or stupid to challenge his assertion(s) within a framework of objective facts. In fact, NO Ivy League school team ever won a football championship, having lost to Georgetown University in a given season. NEVER.

And no Ivy League school team has ever posted a winning record, having lost to Georgetown University in a given season. NEVER.

But this 'Dartmouth follower' was even kind enough to offer you a silver lining; albeit one that goes completely over your head: After 1100 games played in more than one-hundred and fifty football seasons, 'your' program can be part of a FIRST; and just three more wins before Thanksgiving would do the trick!

Cheers.

Georgetown football has now won four games (1-0 in Patriot League play). However, I've not seen them play and thus haven't offered any opinion - not on the 2024 Georgetown football team or their being any kind of detriment to 'your' program. My only pointed thought directed to you last week was that it's more than delusional to imagine anybody's 'shading' you; and that a number of veteran posters of this forum (including the great, Penn Nation) had reported that the current edition of Georgetown is, as they see things, not very good. And my expectations were that someone as astute as you clearly are- if you were paying attention, that is - would have surely factored in those remarks to your humble assessment of all things related to 'your' program and IL football. Moreover, you initiated that strange exchange with Go Green last week; as much as you're triggering this odd back and forth today.

And you're well aware that FOUR games does not a season make! To that point, I'd feel bad if you continue to lose sleep over a misinterpretation of my observations or those of Go Green - as you will persist in your daily analysis of 'your' program and the state of IL football. Understand, you're really going to need your sleep in the days ahead - given the 2am wakeup call you'll have to endure on October 26th; to allow yourself enough time to prepare your delicious lunch and to jump in your jalopy; praying the whole drive long, you'll be able to squeeze the jalopy reasonably well in any spot somewhere on The Bronx side of the Westchester County line, with enough minutes to spare to skedaddle on foot from there in the express direction of Baker Athletics Complex; and with fingers crossed, that you'll arrive in your Wien Stadium seat while the outcome of the Homecoming game remains in doubt.

Cheers.

I saw the game; we played reasonably well but seemed to lack the intensity that we showed in both the Lafayette game and the subsequent game against Princeton. We also played without Chase Goodwin and Bryson Canty. I predicted it was a trap game, and that’s what it turned out to be. I think we looked past Georgetown. But all that matters is that they won, they played well, we did not play up to par, and we paid the price.
