We opened with Rutgers. I believe that the coaches came to feel that opening the season against teams that already had started play was too disadvantageous and the League went to opening against fellow Ivies. I remember opening against Dartmouth. I believe eventually our coaches did not like opening against a conference opponent snd we went back to the current arrangement. I can’t recall, but I think there was a time during this last schedule reset that OOC opponents only had 2 games before playing us. The current situation is ridiculous IMO. But after the nearly 70 years it took them to green light post season play, asking the Presidents to move the schedule up a week or two, with perhaps a bye-week would probably require the administration of smelling salts. And we can win all 8 games and still wonder whether this is the best scheduling for openers, whoever the opponents are.
