Science can be just as brainwashing as religion can, and to teach something that is mere "theory" or "hypothesis" as absolute FACT is just as damaging as extreme religious fundamentalism can be. Two good examples are the THEORY of Evolution, and the THEORY that man is causing the earth to warm or the so-called “Global Warming” scam.

In my opinion, it is none of your business what someone else teaches their young, just as it is not my business what you teach yours. A person cannot become a “free thinker” until they have matured to the point where they have reasoned the answers to questions they seek and come to the point of peace in their heart with the conclusions they have derived. A prudent man (or woman) will continue to seek those answers from multiple sources until they are satisfied with their discoveries as they apply to their individual life.

For you to ask questions such as “What is the correct amount of religion, to prevent future religious fundamentalism?”, and “Can the combination of "proven" science and religious hippocracy, change someone's brainwashed mind?” leads me to believe you have not achieved this contentment yet. If I were an atheist, I would feel no threat whatsoever if someone who was not an atheist believed in a God in whom I did not believe.

By the way “hippocracy”is spelled hypocrisy.
