The author isn't talking about Christianity. This is clear from the language he uses. He's talking about Fundamentalism, a very narrow, American branch of the religion. It is characterized by agressiveness, seperation from other branches of knowledge and assumed superiority to them, and the use of power. It claims supernatural help, and is authoritarian in nature. There are fundamentalist branches of other religions, having the same characterisitcs. Today we have christian Fundamentalists in Washington, Orthodox Jewish in Israel, particularly the settlements, and islamic Fundamentalists in the Middle East and elsewhere. Tiny fractions of their religions, but see where they have gotten us! Religions are capable of libertarian sympathy, but not Fundamentalists.
