Subject: Swing Vote

I would like to propose a New Political Strategy to everyone in general.

I have been a Libertarian for nearly 10 years.

I wanted to ask you, whom are like me, and vote a straight Libertarian ticket that may be we should change our strategy and use our votes to help swing support for certain candidates, that may not be in particular Libertarians, but Republicans like Congressman "Ron Paul" and other's that are running clean campaigns with conservative and/or liberal agendas that may not be "exactly" Libertarian ideals but close enough to not negate anymore of our civil liberties.

Our Party's basic principles can survive and in fact grow and become a decisive political tool in victories acting much like the infamous "Teachers Union", "PAC's" and "Big Business Lobbyists".

I truly believe that pressures can be applied from the fringe, as many might equate the Libertarian Party, compared to the size and clout of the Republican and Democratic Partys.

Siding with one or the other can instill political fear. Attacking in a frontal assault, like we have, has limited our political effect we're just not making much headway as far as I can tell, over these last 10 years, so to me its time to make adjustments and refocus anew on the elected officials and apply pressure there. Once we get them elected then we can hold their feet to the fire and to the principles of the Libertarian Party platform.

Swing votes do matter. I also ask if we are wasting valuable resources in running our own candidates or should we even worry about state and federal candidates in the first place. I don't see anyone from the Teachers Union running candidates for high public office, maybe we should stay with local elections and capture those offices, like Mayors, Sheriffs and City Council Members.

It just something I have been pondering a long time, thanks and I hope I haven't offended any of my fellow Libertarians.

Burnie
