Subject: Drugs and violence

I have seen the war on drugs from beginning to end and have seen nothing done to end the traffic. Drugs are not the problem it is the lack of manufacturing in the u.s. that is the problem. When alcohol was abolished the crime rate rose and bootleggers florished. Once legalization was reinstated the violence related to the manufacturing of alcohol decreased dramatically. Today drugs are manufactured overseas and the violence is high, ther and here. People take mood altering substances with prescriptions for depression and other chemical imbalances. This is bull. This is the government telling us what drugs we can and cannot take. Remove the illegallity of the introduction of drugs into someone own body and remove the violence. Is there a law that says that I cannot get stinking drunk in my own home? NO. Where is the right for 'the pursuit of happiness' as one sees fit. This country was founded for the persuit of individual freedom not persecution from others. If ones actions involve the harm of another then it is a crime but not if it is in the destruction of one's one self. Drug are drugs whether precription or illegal. Alcohol, marajuana, cocaine, proxac, and wellbutrin are all drugs (mood altering substances). Give us back our freedom in all things not just drugs. Hopefully this message will be viewed as my own fredom of speech and not as a political statement.
