Subject: Bo Ellis Returns to Marquette

Back `home' at Marquette
Chicago Tribune
July 17, 2003

Bo Ellis is returning to Marquette University, scene of his greatest basketball triumphs.

Ellis, who led the then-Marquette Warriors to the 1977 NCAA tournament title, has joined Tom Crean's coaching staff. Ellis was let go as head coach at Chicago State in January after nearly five years and a dismal 23-104 record. Before that he had spent 10 years as a Marquette assistant.

"When a guy with Bo's teaching ability and recruiting background is available, hiring him is a no-brainer," Crean said. "I know Bo is from Chicago, but we feel like we're bringing him home."

Marquette reached the Final Four last season.
