Subject: Sponsors logos
In reply to: Joe 's message, "Re: Uncle Charley's first appearance" on 03:48:37 06/03/03 Tue

Joe the prints that Kaz-TV are airing could very well be as originally aired. I don't unfortunately know exactly what or who the sponsors were, but I have seen one Color episode (from Series 6) that has sponsors located during the closing credits. Off the top of my head they were Tame Shampoo and Toni Creme conditioner or something like that. Doesn't really surprise me. Are the episodes being shown on Kaz as Brand new digitally remastered prints or the old 16mm film prints? This may indicate why those old logos are still seen. One can imagine the CBS Print facility in Hollywood (where new prints are often struck from the original negatives) preparing the New Prints for the distributor sans any logos at all now.

All of my color episodes are the old film prints. I have it on good authority from a contact at Paramount/Viacom in Sydney that they were destroyed after their last rerun in 1999 on the Channel 7 Network here. If the Color episodes are rerun in the forseeable future, I am told Viacom will supply new Video Prints. One series I have every episode of ("Here's Lucy") doesn't have any sponsors logos anywhere but when I was in the US in 1987 I distinctly remember watching a morning rerun of Lucy that had the logos colored out with a bright blue circle and the superimposed letters LBP, Inc. -- obviously for Lucille Ball Productions.

Come to think of it, Series 7 episodes of "My Three Sons" (at least in my collection) have a logo in the right hand bottom corner that looks like a football and the letters "nu" or perhaps "nw", but I have no idea what that is in relation to. Any thoughts?
