In Mr Fitzgerald"s book SEA STEADING there are two observations I would like to make
1. Mooring the boat I keep a line that runs from the bow of the boat to the stern with about ten feet of slack in it This can function both as a stern line or as a bow line and as it is one continuous line it makes for an easy life
2. You made the observation that when we suffered pain it hurt twice First there was the pain and then the question WHY
Instead I would like to tell you of my friend Lance Armstrong who said instead ---If I quit---- that is it ---there is no coming back-- But if I realise that this pain may last a day, an hour, a week, a month, or a year and then something else will replace it But if I had quit that would have been that and I will not be able to deal with what has now come up
I humbly think that we have the right to look beyond pain to whatever is coming next
