Subject: Aleutka on ebay

So there is an aleutka 29 on ebay. Ocassionally you see an aleutka 26 for sale, but an aleutka 29-- so far as I know this may be only one of 2 in existence. (50 sets of plans were sold and I know one guy who has one in Maine). The bidding is at around $1500 right now.
the boat needs a new mast according to the seller. Any thoughts on the design? Obviously the 26' had a reputation as seaworthy but it also was slow. I've been reading seasteading, and Jay, you really seem to feel that speed and pointing ability are crucial to the engineless boat. Both are lacking in this boat.
Still, the aleutka was designed to be engineless, and with self-sufficiency in mind.
Anyway, if you have any thoughts, know of any other aleutka 29 or 26 owners I'd really like to hear from you.
