Subject: Need more than...

I have been cruising and living aboard BC coast past 3 yrs. No question (with a pressure canner) this place can sustain you to ridiculous surplus. However, winters are dreary and women are consumers not conservers particularly liveaboard style. One is a lonely number. Thinking of sailing south to find said "scrumpet" plus abundant forage. A friend is living in Dominican Republic but I was thinking more like Costa Rica, Nicaragua... Any reference material/comments/experiences to assist in this quest would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
