The crab claw would work for you. It does require a mast, but a very short one less than half of the length of the spar. As well, it's stayed in the most basic fashion, and would tip over very easily if you cast of a couple of the "shrouds." The mast has a jaw end much like that of a gaff, and rides on an x-beam in similar manner to the gaff riding on the mast. That's all there is to it.
