I've got a welder, but I'm thinking if it can be built out of copper or bronze I can fix it/replace whatever rots out with torch instead of needing a welder. If it isn't steel, whenever it rots out ought to be a while. (grin)

Sounds like a lot of rocket stoves are simple L shaped burners, with the fuel held up on a platform so air drafts under it only burning the ends. Pretty slick, but haven't really found one that seamlessly drops into a boat, as a lot of the designs I'm running across don't have a flue and are intended to be outside. Pot sits directly in the exhaust rather than on something hot.

Gonna keep on pondering, 'cause I think the basic foundation of this idea has a lot of merit. Insulated, efficient... and uses less wood than what I used to envision a wood stove using.
