Huh... Yeah, seems like funny math alright. Aside from population growth and demand growth in China and India, it seems obvious that if we run out of oil and natural gas and start substituting coal, then coal use will skyrocket.

I totally agree that we should trust numbers not press releases. Can anyone help me find solid data on reserves and usage? I'd like to plug this shit into a spreadsheet. So for example when someone says "we should drill in ANWAR" I'm able to estimate how many years (months? days?) of global or US usage does that buy us...

Being a geek - I'll put my faith in data over ideology any damn day. :-)
