Nice to see the oarclub board not littered with sunsailor crap anymore. who was that guy anyway?

The race this year was pretty challenging. I have to say I would have preferred sunday to race but Mike was restricted to Saturday and since he was the only other boat we made a go of it on Dinah-Moe Humm for the fun of it.

The one major mistake by Mike (apart from motoring out of the breakwater) was tacking away from Portage Isl. when the wind was filling from the northwest. The other advantage we had was that we rowed at a couple critical points to get to a wind line. We opened up a five mile lead or more on Mike by the time he cleared Hales Passage. He caught up to within two miles or so (but didn't see us) and then we rounded Clark point and by the time he rounded we were back up to 3 miles ahead with a solid breeze to take us home.

There was never a moment in this race for us with more than 15 knots of wind. We had a 7-10 knot breeze coming right at us for the first 22 miles then had a broad reach in 13-15 knots across the bay to go home. One good thing is we never did a sail change - the genoa flew all day long. 9 hours 56 minutes.

Not to be a rule stickler but next time Mike you have to time your self all the way to the breakwater - not to the green buoy and you have to sail out of the marina.

Overall though - good work finishing the race Mike. But maybe you should buy that Santa Cruz 52 down there for next year's race - if you have more than double my waterline length maybe you can beat me. ;)
