I wouldn't panic about it. As long as the boat is soundly built, you're fine. Fin keel boats seldom are, but some are, and I think they're very fine sailers. The keel thing is mostly crap regurgitated out of old books and the commentary of unacknowledged fetishists.

Two maxims, addressing things that bug me.

ALL small boats will get the shit kicked out of them in rough(actually, really)weather. To compare the two is a bizarre conversation much like discussing if you'd rather be water boarded for hours or have a curling iron shoved up your ass once.

ALL boats are wet if they're driven at their speed potential. A dry boat is a slow boat. Case example. The Ingrid hull has a reputation as a dry boat. Not with Macha's rig she is not. . .boy, you will reef just to keep your butt on board, driving that girl hard to weather in a 5 to 6 foot chop. . . and a foot of green water washing the decks. Doesn't seem to slow her down much.
