Subject: Cook Stoves for Tough TImes

With the focus on self sufficient sailing/seasteading, and the obvious wave of low money/high costs we're seeing, the though arises that propane and other niceties may or may not be available for as if things continue to grow dim in the economy of the United States and possibly further off shore.

My question: I have been looking at diesel cook stoves on the premis that diesel in small amounts, I can likely get anywhere, the BTU density is good and I don't relish the idea of storing wood on deck, collected from shore with the high probability of bringing an infestation of spiders and other nasties aboard my little boat. ON the other hand, wood, charcoal and burnable scrap is VERY attractive to an possible beach comber.

What are your thoughts out there? To cook aboard and possibly bring in some heat, when fuel is scarce.
