Just a thought, I started to learn engineless sailing on a santana 22. Not the choice for your eventual needs but perhaps a good trainer. I got one for $1500, added a bowsprit and a mizzen, cut down the stock spinny and set it as an asym off the bowsprit and built a mizzen staysail from an old hankless drifter. I was able to learn to sail in a boat that had some mass but not so much so that I could not fend off if I had to. I kept the boat for a couple of years then i got the triton. the training on the santana was very valuable. I suggest that if you are learning to sail engineless in a marina with other boats liability insurance may be prudent.
