Subject: Woods and water editorials!

Febuary's edition seems to be full of the Quota hunt system issues facing us this year, which means it is on all Florida hunters minds, that is if you hunt Public land!

The one thing that nobody Has asked is where will all the hunter hunt when their hunting, three to five day hunt is over, after all this is the biggest reason to game the system.... getting enough hunting time! Who wants to hunt just three days a year, does anyone real think that the new Non-transferable system will give them more time in the woods then they already get, Yes i believe one might have a better chance of getting picked for that highly sotafter WMA but that is as far as the non-transferable system is going to go, and if as the FWC thinks will happen (more hunters coming back into the system) then we are all going to be crowded even more in the few Romp and stomp WMAs!

This isn't an easy choice for anyone to make, the present system is flawed, we know this but it also puts the Most hunters in the woods in comparison to the Non-transferable system, if as the United Hunters of Florida has been trying to do ever since it was formed and that is, get more land and more hunters into the woods to Hunt, both young and Old, the transferable system does this but at a price! Are there any ways to stop some of the problems..YES, they (FWC) has already implimented them, and there are others also, i believe that the ones already in place plus the other ones that CAN be implimented will have a very good chance of curving the problems that are inherent in the system, YET will Give the Hunter the Most Time in the woods! We still have yet to see what the Deer management Team has to offer this system either, with the changes they are making! I personally find it hard to believe the FWC needs to make such a RADICAL change without all the CARDS on the table!

There's not enough factual evidence to say whether or not a Non-transferable system will have the prefered outcome that is needed for ALL hunters to be able to Hunt on Public land any better then is already happening, If it isn't better then what we have, WHY change it?

Mark
