Subject: Scenic Byway could influence hunting in ONF

The Scenic Byway being proposed and is close to being approved on SR40. It will effect the whole of the ONF, and in fact, the Corridor Advocacy Group (CAG) is trying to get either Rick Lint, the sitting manager for ONF OR Jim Thorsen, former manager for ONF, to chair the Corridor Management Entity (CME).

The CME will manage the roads and lands along and within the corridor. These areas will not be managed by local county commissioners, but by the CME, a group of people who volunteer to be on the CME. Each of the five counties this corridor goes through will have one, or possibly two votes, while private citizens will have one. No one county will manage their lands within the corridor. ALL lands in and around the corridor, roads included, will be managed by the CME.

The counties will be forced to implement the policies set by the CME without additional funds for officers to patrol and enforce those policies. The counties will have no choice but to follow these policies and enforce them at a great expense.

Of course ONF will go along with the policies set, because as Chair, they will have a major influence on what the CME does or does not want to do.

I for one do not want my elected officials to give up what I elected them for, managing my county....do you?
