Tom,
The answer to your question about how many people take more than 2 deer is...Only 3% of the hunters take more than 1 deer, so I'd guess that less than 1% take more than 2 deer per year. As for does, if they think we've over harvested the bucks, they probably won't suggest taking does any time soon.

The same rules set for public land would be set for private land. Just because the deer are on private land doesn't mean the FWC isn't responsible for setting the rules. It's been found that for the most part folks with private land do a lot more to make sure their deer are healthy and numerous because they want to continue to be able to hunt.

I agree with you 100% on the long season...It's been proposed to start hunting season the same time from Miami to Pensacola so there would be no more panhandle hunters starting early down south and working their way back to late season hunting in the panhandle. or vice-versa. If we went two bucks per season, and you happen to get lucky in bow season and take both your bucks...Your not going to be able to hunt from October through February. Your done!

I wasn't too clear when I mentioned the NF's..How would you be able to close the off to make sure the deer were check at a check station? Their virtually wide open..If we were to go to a tag system, how are you going to enforce it?

They would have to do something like the deer dog registration for feeders...I don't think a periodic check on some to these private hunt clubs would be a bad thing all together. I don't think you going to see feeders go away, but there is a few people want's some rules put in place as to how close you can be while hunting or how close they can be to a public WMA fence line. I just threw that one in for some feed back.

We all know enforcement is a problem always has been and probably will be for quite awhile..Glad to see they are trying to get to pay the officers better though...FWC can't keep em for the police departments recruiting them away.
