Answering with a permissive wave of his hand and a nod, the seller grinned faintly, a little sadly, as the buyer produced the mare's favorite treat. "Of course, of course. You know, she'll love you forever after this."

And indeed the little mare proved her owner's words true with a brightened interest, if possible, in the strange hands and the magic pockets that held the tasty little drops of horsey heaven. Lips reaching for the snack even before it was offered, the mare nickered lowly in excitement, hooves shuffling her all the closer to the stranger.

Stuffing his hands in his pockets, the seller nodded at the next question. A fair question to ask, as many a buyer might push a sale only to dump a horse with health problems in the hands of an unsuspecting buyer. "Family troubles back East. My wife's mother's health is failing and we've decided it best to move back there a while so my wife can spend some well-deserved time with her family before her mother goes. Had a few geldings to sell also, but they've already gone on to new homes -this mare here, she's the last and once she's sold, we'll be leaving town. Only wish I could take her with us, but with that great a distance to travel, it would be more fair to her if I could place her in a loving home."
