“Please start chopping those mushrooms as soon as we get everything unpacked,” Michael directed as he picked up another bag from the van. He had to go get his ingredients for his meal tonight. He was standing up to the challenge and going to prepare Chicken and Mushrooms Crepes, Petits Pâtés a la Sage, Beef Consommé, and Glace au Pain d'Epices for dessert. Michael knew that French food could be a risk, but these were very simple French dishes.

“Michael….” Mick called out and Michael turned and frowned. Mick was walking towards him with Michelle. He handed off the bag and walked towards the pairing. “I didn’t expect to see the two of you here today…”

“We were expecting to see Nikita in the city,” Michelle spoke as she looked at Michael but she knew that Michael had no idea what she was talking about. “She was to meet about the honeymoon book… we were to have the items that she said she was going to have written turned in… I’ve never had her miss a deadline.”

“And she knows how crunched we are with time on this,” Mick added. Michael sighed as he looked around. “She hasn’t been herself… Walter is with Belinda… she is being released today… so give her a few days…”

“We had the legal team in to discuss the proceeds going into a trust to be distributed to the camp. It’s not that simple,” Michelle explained and Michael leaned against the van. “It doesn’t seem like anything can be changed about what happened today.”

“She didn’t even answer her phone,” Mick spoke and Michael swallowed hard while he blushed slightly. “Well…. Nikita was tired today.”

“Michael,” Michelle whispered and Michael walked away from the van. He was about a hundred feet away when he turned to look at Mick and Michelle. “Aren’t you coming? Nikita is at the stable… it will be easier if you come with me…”

Michael could hear Mick and Michelle walking behind him. He wished that they had better things to do. He was concerned about Nikita missing the deadlines on this project. Nikita had pushed to do it faster and it wasn’t like Nikita to fall through on something that was going to not only given the fans what they wanted, but to benefit the camp.

Michael got to the stable and pulled up to the fence. He waited as Nikita jumped out of the hay loft and jogged towards him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him tenderly. Then Nikita stood beside Michael while she said hello to Mick and Michelle.

Michael gave them credit. They didn’t jump all over Nikita. They said hello and even asked how Belinda was doing and how they heard about Nikita saving the kitchen staff from implosion. It was Michelle who finally broke the ice. “I was concerned about you because you missed the meeting… about the book chapters and the meeting with the legal team.”

Nikita blanched as she instantly turned white. “What? That was today?”

“Yeah,” Mick spoke gently and Nikita dropped her head to look at her feet. “I swore I had more time…”

“We can reschedule things,” Michelle offered with a smooth voice. They were more worried about how Nikita was doing and not so much about the missed meeting. Michael reached out and took Nikita’s hand. “See… it can be rescheduled…”

“No,” Nikita shook her head nervously from side to side. “I haven’t started writing yet… I can barely put sentences together when I try to write… in any format…”

Michelle turned her head to look at Mick. Mick shook his head from side to side gently. “You got over your writer’s block last summer, Popsicle.”

“Inspiration hit me… it flowed quickly… that’s not happening here… while I can think of everything that I want to say… I just can’t see to put it down,” Nikita pulled her hand away from Michael’s and rubbed her neck. “I know that I need to do it… I know that I can…”

Nikita turned away and walked back towards the stable. Michael looked after Nikita as she was moving her hands around as if she was in pain. Michael rubbed his chin and was about to follow after Nikita when he realized that he had Mick and Michelle standing there. “Ah… why don’t you stay for dinner? It’s a meal that I have to get them to prepare…”

“How are you going to get them to prepare it when you are with Nikita?” Mick questioned and Michael closed his mouth. He didn’t know how he was going to do that at all. Mick rolled his eyes. “I know how to cook… what are you having? Chicken Pot Pie? Chili?”

“Chicken and Mushrooms Crepes, Petits Pâtés a la Sage, Beef Consommé, and Glace au Pain d'Epices,” Michael answered as he looked at Mick. “All the recipes are on the counters.”

“You are feeding the girls’ French Food that isn’t named French Fries or French Toast? Are you insane?” Mick asked as he shook his head back and forth. “And the Consommé should have been started… and don’t get me started about dessert…”

“I can go…” Michael offered and Mick shook his head. He grabbed Michelle’s hand. “I got help… and you get our wife… well, go to her… But be in that kitchen to claim to the girls that you made this meal…”

“They are going to like it,” Michael urged and Mick rolled his eyes as he turned on his heels, pulling a protesting Michelle with him.

Michael looked towards the stable and sighed. He saw some staff lingering around and he wanted to make sure that they left first before he spoke with Nikita.

But he didn’t even know what to do to help her.

He didn’t know what was wrong.
