“You’ll want this,” Julie, the waitress at the Denny’s that Nikita had selected to eat at this morning, said as she handed Michael a fresh cup of coffee. He shook his head. “I’ll need it to go.”

“That would be if she was done eating,” Julie winked as she walked back to the counter to retrieve the food for another customer. Michael leaned his head to look around the partition to see Nikita eating.

He had been unsure what this morning would hold. Especially after last night. He had been surprised that Nikita had waked up and said that she was hungry. Michael didn’t waste time and quickly had pulled them together to get to Denny’s. Michael feared that at any moment Nikita’s mind would kick in and she would start to think again.

The one thing that would make this even better would be if Nikita was talking. While she was talking, she wasn’t talking about what she had thought about last night. He only had parts of what was going on when Nikita was in the PTSD flash, but no real details.

“Hey… I thought you were done,” Michael spoke as he walked to the table and sat down across from Nikita. She shrugged her shoulders as she looked at the buffet. “The baby decided it wanted more.”

Michael smiled as took another sip of the coffee. “And I took a while talking to Walter and Adam. Adam is stir crazy.”

Nikita didn’t stop eating. But she arched an eyebrow with her question. Michael chuckled. “I guess Adam started an online dating profile… and Jason helped… Walter shouldn’t have been surprised by this. Adam was bored at home.”

With a swallow, Nikita paused to look at Michael. “That doesn’t excuse what Adam did. Walter is extremely private.”

“That was the case… but then Adam showed him some of the profiles,” Michael explained and Nikita nodded her head. She picked up the muffin that she had slathered in strawberry jam and took a bite. “You know, I always thought that if I met Walter after Section was closed… that he would have a woman... he may have been a charmer, but he was a romantic.”

“I saw him with a harem,” Michael laughed and Nikita rolled her eyes and became quiet as she continued to eat.

“Maybe we should find a place to ship the journals back… and just find a nice hotel and spend the day. We don’t have to be back as we planned.”

Nikita shook her head. “I don’t trust to ship them. We get this over today.” Nikita took a sip of orange juice and pushed the plate away. “The baby is now full.”

Michael sighed and reached for Nikita’s hand. “I don’t want you to push this, Kita.”

“And I don’t want to be away from our family longer than we need to be,” Nikita pointed out as she rubbed her left hand against her right thumb. “We already are running behind schedule.”

“Kita…”

“Let’s just get to that cemetery, Michael,” Nikita stated as she stood up. Michael arched an eyebrow and Nikita stopped. “Well… maybe I should go to the bathroom first.”

“Yeah,” Michael nodded his head knowingly as he watched Nikita dash off, her bladder much smaller than it ever had been. Michael stood up this time and walked to the front with the check in hand. Judy smiled at him. “She looks much better now.”

“We’ve been here for hours,” Michael stated and Judy nodded her head. “Yep.”

“You could have had a couple more people at that table,” Michael spoke and Judy nodded her head. “Yep.”

“And you are still smiling?”

“I think you are a man of integrity,” Judy shrugged her shoulders as Michael handed over the check with a hundred dollar bill. He didn’t need to say anything. He turned and walked to the door to find Nikita already heading out towards the door.
