Nikita was just tweaking the picture that she had brought from Sabina to put in her room when her daughter heard the front door and took off in a run. “Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! You're home. You have to see what I just got!”

Nikita smiled at the picture and stepped away. It was a picture of Sabina at the park and it was perfect to be added to the room that Mick had somehow designed while being unable to visit the house. She dusted her hands and stepped into the hallway. “Don’t run down the stairs, Sabina!”

“Daddy! Mom made this huge picture of me for my room. You have to come see…” Sabina continued to shout as she didn’t slow down as she went down the stairs. Nikita shook her head as she was glad that she wasn’t able to actually see Sabina running down the stairs. “What’s that?”

“Something for your mother,” Michael answered and Nikita stepped forward. “Michael?”

“Has Walter made it over yet?” Michael called out as he continued down the hallway and Nikita frowned. He was purposely moving down the hallway so she couldn’t see whatever it was that Sabina had saw.

“Pap is with Davenport and Ellie. I think Tom is here too… waiting for Laura,” Sabina loudly reported as Nikita reached the bottom of the stairs. “Ah… I didn’t know that we had plans tonight… I don’t have enough food…”

“The pizza will be here shortly,” Michael stepped into the doorway of the kitchen and smiled at Nikita. He stepped forward and kissed her gently even while Sabina was tugging at his shirt. “Daddy! I want you to come see my room.”

“I’ll see it later,” Michael rubbed his hand thru his daughter’s hair as Adam stepped out of the living room. “Gads… you act like he has been gone for days. He was just here for lunch.”

Nikita looked at Michael with pressed lips. “And you didn’t tell me that you changed plans… what’s going on?”

“It’s a good thing,” Michael touched Nikita’s face as the door that separated Davenport’s garage and Walter emerged. “I could tell that you got home.”

“Sabina surely made that easy,” Adam retorted with a roll of his eyes. Walter picked up Sabina and held her in his arms. “You have to learn to use an indoor voice, my little cupcake.”

“Oh Pap… I was just excited… but I want Daddy to see what Mommy did for me…” Sabina looked at her father and Michael chuckled. “I will… but not right now, Sabina. Plus, I’m sure that it was a special gift from your mother… and that is what matters most. It is clear that it has made you happy.”

Michael took Nikita’s hand and guided her into the kitchen. “I’m going to take your mother out tonight… so you are going to have all the attention you can possibly want, Sabina. Walter is going to be here. Davenport and Ellie. Tom and Laura… and Laura is bringing over Uncle Mick, who you haven’t met yet.”

“We’re going out?” Nikita asked and Michael paused he watched Sabina. Her face lit up and didn’t really register that they were going out without her. “My Uncle Mick who got my room all right?”

“Yep… but you have to be careful around him. He is hurt and you can’t be jumping on him, ok?” Michael stated and Adam sighed. “Is Birkoff going out with Daisy again?”

“Actually, he should be stopping by,” Michael looked back to Adam. Adam nodded his head and he smiled at Nikita. “Maybe we can work together on some… issues…”

“Adam…” Nikita warned and Michael chuckled. “He is just joking.”

“Are you sure?” Nikita quipped back lightly. But Nikita licked her lips and shook her head from side to side. “But Michael… I didn’t know that we were going out… I’m not dressed for it… In fact, I meant to start the laundry so you have clothes done because the dry cleaners dropped them off… but I don’t…”

Michael took Nikita’s hand and moved her to the small closet that was next to their pantry and opened it. He pulled out the bag and smiled again. “I guess it’s good that I know your clothing size.”

“Michael…” Nikita looked at the bag and shook her head. “We should stay here… everyone is coming over…”

“They are coming over… so we can get out… and we aren’t coming back tonight,” Michael whispered as he got closer to Nikita. He cupped her cheek. “Let them be with the rest of our family… we need some time alone, or we may never get married.”

Nikita tilted her head and looked back thru the kitchen to see that Walter had already taken Sabina out of the room. “Michael… Sabina… I don’t know…”

“She sleeps thru the night… and she’ll be worn out with everyone over. She is old enough for us to spend a night away. It’s just one night,” Michael whispered as he dropped his hand to her arm and smiled. “We haven’t celebrated our luck alone… we need that.”

Nikita shivered with what Michael said. She swallowed as she reached to look at the bag. She blinked as she saw the mini dress that was in a deep emerald green color. “This is too much… it’s too nice…”

“I have reservations for us at Bistro 23 this evening. But you have enough time to take a shower,” Michael revealed as he tilted his head to the side. “As long as I can keep myself away from that shower.”

“Our entire family is in this house, Michael,” Nikita warned but she still blushed with the thought. She took the bag while swallowing. “I don’t think it is going to just be this easy, Michael. Sabina… she is spunky about what she wants.”

“And it is also our job to start teaching her that she can’t always get everything that she wants,” Michael pointedly spoke, but he truly didn’t think it would be an issue tonight.

Nikita stepped away and nodded her head. Michael watched as Nikita walked to the stairs to start getting ready. But his biggest worry was not really Sabina letting them go.

It was getting Nikita to leave.
