“You are going to carry that camera with you all day today?” Michael asked as he opened up the door to the museum. Nikita nodded her head up and down. “Yes. Whitney says I have to become one with the camera…. Even more.”

“You had it almost everywhere last week,” Michael stated as he showed the membership card that he somehow had and then he paid for Nikita’s admission. Nikita rolled her head to the side and waited to walk away from the entrance to begin to explain to Michael the reasons behind carrying the camera. “She told me that it isn’t just about taking the pictures. I’m still getting used to the weight of the camera and how to best hold it against my body and in my hands. That I can’t start experimenting with other lenses and flashes until I really get used to the weight and outline of this camera.”

Michael shook his head as he guided Nikita into the first room of the modern art exhibit that she wanted to see. “And when do I get to see the photographs?”

“I’m not ready for that,” Nikita shook her head and Michael turned and blinked his eyes. “Really, Kita? You seemed so happy about them.”

“I am.”

“Then you should share,” Michael pointed out and Nikita shrugged her shoulders slightly. “Maybe for the real Christmas.”

“That’s like six weeks away,” Michael declared and Nikita nodded her head. “It should give me some time to get some things together for Adam. I do have some nice pictures of him in the Championship Soccer game.”

“That he was lucky to play in. He missed a good bit of school and the stunts with his tests were unacceptable,” Michael frowned and Nikita nudged Michael but he didn’t change. Finally she lifted the camera to snap a picture of him. She frowned and shook her head. “You might freeze that way if you keep that frown, Michael.”

“I’m not being hard on Adam.”

“You were,” Nikita corrected as she sighed and looked at the water color. She tilted her head to the side and she felt Michael touching her elbow. “You aren’t going to distract me from looking at the art, Michael.”

“Did Whitney assign this also?”

“No,” Nikita shook her head back and forth. “But it was so cold today and I just didn’t want to take our walk. I thought this was a good change.”

Michael watched as Nikita framed a few shots and took some pictures. He tried to look at the small screen but once Nikita caught on to what Michael was trying to do, she turned that screen off. “Kita, sooner or later we are going to have to be able to sit down and just talk things out. The weather is going to get bad and it’s going to be too dangerous to walk and talk.”

“But I’m doing well with that arrangement,” Nikita sighed heavily as she moved to the next picture and frowned. “This one is dark.”

“It is.”

“It reminds me of the Chernov lab slightly,” Nikita rubbed her nose and she kept her camera down. “I never complained about the pain.”

“I would have no idea what it would have felt like,” Michael admitted and Nikita nodded her head up and down while one of her hands rubbed at her hip as it was so easy to feel that pain again. “I didn’t feel too empty…. It was only one egg that he took. Although I wonder what kind of information was in my dossier for him to think that I was a perfect specimen.”

“You are a strong woman, Kita,” Michael whispered as he moved to the next picture and looked at Nikita as she was still looking at that dark picture. “You were able to confirm that the egg was destroyed, right?”

“Yeah,” Nikita nodded her head up and down. “Those first couple months as Operations I spent a lot of time confirming the truth or lies I had been fed. First was to ensure that Madeline was truly dead, which she was. Then it was about the children…. Which they were alive and still were in a program under Section. But they weren’t related to any of us. But in the end I found that the young blonde girl was brought in because she resembled me… to help build many of my cover stories.”

Michael swallowed hard on that. “Really?”

“There was no pictures of me as a child… and I didn’t have a child to age progress in the computers… lots of those children were brought in for those reasons alone,” Nikita revealed as she moved to the next picture and half smiled. “It’s like an amusement park…”

“I don’t see that,” Michael shook his head as he looked at the abstract piece. Nikita then started to point out features that she thought made it like an amusement park. “I took that blonde girl to a fair… not an amusement park… before I was able to get all of the children out and into other arrangements. I had kept track of her for a while too. But with my own pregnancy, making sure that you were ok and then the process of closing down Section… I had to stop watching her.”

“I’m sure that she is doing well,” Michael rubbed at Nikita’s elbows. Nikita nodded her head slightly up and down. “I believe that too.”

They continued in the first room for a long time and Nikita paused as they walked out into the light and airy atrium that would take them to the next exhibition room. “Let me take your picture out here. I think it shows you off so much better, Michael.”

Nikita took several shots and then Michael watched as she stood up and took the strap off of her neck. She stepped forward and pushed the camera into his hands. “Kita? What’s going on?”

Nikita started to walk down the hallway from the way that they had started from. Michael was confused as he looked at the camera and he cleared his throat a bit more. “Kita?”

“Mick!” Nikita shouted and Michael focused on where Nikita’s eyes were and he couldn’t believe it.

“Mick!” Michael shouted and then regretted.

Because Mick ran.
