Subject: Waiting to see how good my lunch was...

Grumbly grumble...

I did a good job this morning not screaming or crying when I walked into the kitchen to fix baby's breakfast.

There on the counter sat last night's leftovers.

AAAAAHHHHH!!! How could I go through the effort of putting the Chili Verde in a container and then not put it in the fridge?!?!

This particular recipe is not difficult to make, but time consuming (soaking beans for 24 hours, cooking beans for an hour, boiling and cubing chicken, cooling, refrigerating, reheating for 30 min.+) Also, it makes several servings, and is excellent reheated. One of my current favorites.

Soooooo... I REALLY didn't want to throw it out. I decided to be the guinea pig -- I ate some for lunch. If I survive the next 24 hours, then I'll let baby and hubby eat it again.

What are your rules for deciding when food has gone bad?
