I really don't think that matters at all. Most CPL forms still share more than they differ. The main thing would be to promote knowledge of the style, encourage people who practice it (in whatever form) to meet, exchange training ideas and methods etc. I also think that we really just have two MAIN versions common today: Wang Shujin's version and Chen Panling's version or, rather, their versions as they are practiced today by their students and students' students - and I think that is still different from how they were practiced by the masters themselves, for better or worse.

Anyway, I think it's a great idea, but it would require a lot of work, determination and openness to the various branches and schools. I wish I had the time since it's such a worthy cause!
