Frank Nicotero, the host of Street Smarts, introduced Greg at the top of the show. “Please, give it up ‘til your hands bleed, for Mr. Greg Proops.” Greg strolled out, hurried up to and stared into the camera, and then took a seat at a small round table with two high chairs. Frank sat across from him and they clinked mugs. “I feel so Kelly Rippa today,” he remarked.

Frank: “Do you want to tell a story about your kids at all?”
Greg: “Yea, yea. I lost them and I don’t know where they are.”
Frank: “Yea, be on the lookout for those kids…”
Greg: “I think they’re at the mall.”

The two guests, Nikki and David, were introduced and then Frank started talking about how he goes out on the street to interview people. Greg removed his glasses and stuck one end in his mouth, as if seriously analyzing Frank’s every word.

Frank: “Now you’re American?”
Greg: “No, I’m Russian. I’m joking, of course.”
Frank (indicating Greg’s mug): “That explains the vodka.” (This broke Greg up and he let out a good laugh over that one)

Greg introduced the three on-the-street interviews, the show got underway and they went through the usual round of “Who Knew It?” The first question regarded the Braidini. The one that got it wrong, Mo, said that if he were a Braidini, our purpose on earth is to party and have as much fun as you can!”

Greg: “I’m glad, though, that I’m finally clear on what our purpose on earth is.” (This casual remark broke up Frank)

Mo became the victim of an attempted French kiss by Frank—joking, of course. Greg said he’d never seen that side of Frank and that the man was clearly in the “sexual harassment mode.”

Skipping over the boring parts now… Nikki turned out to be a personal assistant, who described her job as “helping people… out… per-son-a-lly…” Greg lost it, rocking back in his chair and tossing his head back in amusement. The man had a good time shooting this show, I’ll tell you. A couple of questions later, they ran the tape where Frank repeated the French kiss attempt on Mo. When the camera went back to the studio, both Frank and Greg were leaning in towards one another with their tongues out; they came REALLY close to each other and Nikki was in the background going, “oh, oh, no!”

“Frank,” Greg said as he reached into his suit coat pocket, “You’ve got everything that a game show host needs. You’re charming, you’re affable, you’re witty, but I’ve got something that’ll make you look a little bit hipper.” At which point he pulled out a pair of black-rimmed glasses—they look very much like the kind he wore ten years ago, kind of square on the top with large lenses—and Frank put them on. I’m thinking that they were actually his, because Frank took them off after the commercial and remarked that they were prescription glasses.
